Affordable one-way flights to Cagliari

Cagliari old city is also known as Castello for its strong defensive fortifications. Numerous winding alleyways run through the district, with secluded squares, splendid façades and wrought-iron railings.

Bastione San Remy is located at the south end of the Castello district. Locals and tourists alike gather in the evening on the large viewing platform, which is reached up a huge marble staircase, to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy small concerts.

Cagliari’s Cathedral, built by the Pisans the 13th century, is particularly well worth a visit The cathedral was repeatedly rebuilt in later centuries, with the result that its façade now includes Gothic, Catalan and Baroque components.

The Roman Amphitheatre is Sardinia’s most ancient building, having been originally built by the Romans in the second century BC, and can accommodate around 20,000 people. A trip to the Amphitheatre can easily be combined with a visit to the lovely Botanical Gardens, which are just a few steps away.

Sardinian specialities are not quite as familiar as traditional Italian cuisine, but just as tasty – if not more so. Our favourite: a portion of malloreddus (Sardinian gnocchi) with a glass of Sardinian red wine – lovely!
