Top sights in Vienna
St. Stephan's Cathedral
This gothic cathedral is located at the heart of Vienna's old town. Stroll around the exterior to get a feel for the building before heading inside to gaze at the flying buttresses. Daily tours of the catacombs beneath the church are worth the time and money as is a trip up the bell tower for spectacular views.
St. Michael's Church
This small church is located near the entrance to the Hofburg. It was here that Mozart's Requiem was first performed after the composer's death. If you look to the right upon entering the church you can see a cast of Mozart's death mask. A very interesting sight, indeed.
Sachertorte
Be sure to sample this famous Viennese chocolate cake. There is an ongoing dispute as to who has the Sachertorte: the Hotel Sacher, located near the opera house, or Cafe Demel, located at the entrance to the Hofburg near St. Michael's church. Why not try them both for yourself?
